This is not an easy blog to write. There is no wonderful way to deliver the news to come. Our temporary suspension of classes at the studio became permanent: effective April 1, 2020, the studio is closed. The recent weeks have been challenging for everyone. In March we chose to suspend classes to protect and honor the health and wellness of you, our clients. Later the state mandated closures of recreation facilities which has been extended through April. An unknown future has put us in a position to make some very hard decisions, while trusting all will unfold as it should and honoring the yogic principle of doing no harm. Our yoga practice has been called upon like never before and we are doing our best to navigate through these challenging times.
We want to thank you for stepping into this community. Red Door Yoga+ is not about the studio, it is about the practice and the community. Together we explored yoga, meditation, cardio and many subjects during Self-Care Saturday's. We became friends. Some of you have been with us from the beginning. Some of you have drifted in and out, knowing we had open arms and a safe place for you to land. It has been an honor to serve you, to be blessed with wonderful teachers, and to grow ourselves as teachers and business owners over the past 3+ years.
We want to acknowledge the business partnerships we've established: Camp Ripley, Horizon Health, St Francis Wellness Center, Pine Grove Zoo, Linden Hill and Fitness Connection. These relationships are strong and have been a firm foundation for us.
That being said, we are not in a position to pay rent with no end in sight: with the current data, being closed for 2-3 months is not financially possible for us.
We don't know if we will set up a different studio in the future. We are keeping all options open and staying in the present moment. Julie and Tamsie will continue to be a partnership under Red Door Yoga+. We will offer our services to our business partners when life resumes. We will also be available for private lessons, groups and workshops when the government allows us to once again gather together. We are using this time of staying at home to brainstorm and let our imaginations flow freely. The future is wide open.
Punch Cards: We honor the investment you made in your practice through your punch card purchase, and we want to offer you options now that the cards can no longer be used.
Options available for cards that have not expired:
1. You may request a refund of your balance. Please contact us via email email@example.com for refunds. If you would prefer to call Tamsie at 320.333.6902, she has the cards and can verify balances.
2. You may choose to donate your balance to Red Door. We will have final bills to pay. We have always operated on a very tight budget, keeping our head above water. We have paid rent, utilities, purchased equipment and paid our staff. We have not taken pay for our services over the years. It was far more important to provide a place to practice than to take a paycheck. We are fortunate that our business model never included taking wages to live on. Know our teachers were also very gracious and did not demand market value for their services.
The choice of handling your punch card balance is yours and we will honor either option you choose. Please make your choice as soon as possible. If we do not hear from you by April 15th, we will consider this acknowledgement that you are gifting Red Door your balance and we thank you.
We realize this is a lot to take in- it is for us, too. This is a decision filled with mixed emotions. We are leaning on our practice to see us through.
Yoga is not about a studio. Yoga is about the breath and being in the moment. It is about going inside and rediscovering our very best selves.
We will keep our Face Book page and website alive. We will also send updates via email. If you are not on our email list, contact us and we'll add you. Our list is not sold or shared.
Our hearts are filled with love for this community. Thank you for making this dream a reality.
Until we meet again, know that we will make it through this time. We will reunite. Be safe and be open to the unknown.
Julie and Tamsie
