The day is ever-nearing: the day when we open our doors to our tribe, to those that seek an inner awareness, a calm in the storm of life. And in opening the door, we are opening our hearts, offering a space of acceptance, love, peace, and community. The Red Door studio is more than just breathing and stretching. It's a place to work in. To leave your day at the door. To enter and (perhaps for the first time that day), to take a deep breath and know that for the next hour+, it is just you and your mat. To be aware of your body, your thoughts, your breath--and then to let it all go. To be present.
We, especially as women, pour our souls out for our families, friends, and colleagues. Where do we fill our vessel? Where and when do we pause to reconnect our mind, body, and soul. Our hope is that this is a space where you can fill up, recharge, and refuel.
And maybe even stay for some tea and a snack afterward.

Balance…Oh how I struggle.
Perhaps this resonates with you as well.
We gravitate towards things that are easy for us and retreat from things that are difficult. For some of us, that might be balance. We struggle with physical balance, emotional balance, and spiritual balance.
As we age, balance is vital to our daily living and practice is essential. Practicing balance builds strength in our bodies and in our minds.
We are well into Fall here in beautiful Minnesota, and Mother Nature is being kind and gentle to us giving us amazing sunshine and mild temperatures.
Be kind and gentle to yourself as you practice balance. When you fall, fall with a smile on your face and try, try again.
Let me just clear the yogic air: yoga is not an acrobatic competition, whereby only the lithe and lean can participate in pretzel-like poses, vying for the title of 'Most Flexible Femme Fatale.' Nay. Nay, nay, nay.
Allow me to go Cliff Claven-esque for a moment:
It's a little known fact, that the yoga asanas (poses) were actually created (5000+ years ago) so that yogis (people) could sit longer in meditation (prayer). That's it. Many of these confounded poses and practices that scare us off are much thanks to our Western philosophy of 'more is MORE!'
The intention of our yoga practice is to go within. By focusing on your breath and physical body, you will start to untie the knots around your heart (anahata) as well as wrangle the incessant chatter (chitta) of your mind.
The goal is to realize that you can be uncomfortable in a pose and still find ease through your breathe and then eventually find ease in the pose. Herein lies the blueprint for life: in any situation if we can find our breath...we can find a place of ease.
And so the journey begins! Or, rather, the journey actually continues. Opening a space that will allow others to breathe, connect, and work-in (pun on 'work-out') has been a long-time dream of ours. In a world of steady noise, distraction, fear, anxiety, and disconnect--we want this space to be place of peace, self-study, reflection, and letting go.
The Sanskrit word 'Namaste' (nahm maas stay) literally means "I bow to you". The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another.
